Back Pain? Here’s Why You Should See A Physio

back pain

Most people don’t realize that the right person to see if they’ve had a sustained injury that causes back pain is a physiotherapist. Whether that’s an injury they’ve acquired during exercise or during a workplace drama, it’s important to get the right support if you have an injury in your body. The problem is that most people will often overlook how beneficial physiotherapy can be just for day-to-day life.

You don’t necessarily need to wait for an injury to go and see a physio, especially if you’ve been dealing with some pain for a while. Your chiropractor, for example, may recommend SoftWave Therapy if you’re in pain, but they may also tell you to see a physiotherapist and learn the safest exercise for your pain. A physiotherapy session could really benefit you, especially if you are dealing with back pain that just doesn’t seem to want to go away. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of those reasons below.

  • You can improve your posture. For most people, back pain tends to be an issue because of the way that they sit or stand. Arching the lower back to push the bottom outward, or hunching the shoulders at a desk. Both may feel comfortable in the moment, but they don’t do anything good for your long term health. Back pain and improper posture go hand in hand and a physio is going to be able to walk you through. The impact of that poor posture on your body. They can then teach you how to do exercises and change your posture to correct it.
  • Alleviating that pain. Back pain is never good. It doesn’t matter whether it comes from a spinal stenosis or a pulled muscle, back pain is going to be a bother. Alleviating that pain while improving your flexibility, however, are two things that a physiotherapist can do for you.If you have a sedentary lifestyle, you might ignore the back pain going on, but it’s not going to help you to ignore it. A physiotherapist will assess your flexibility with you and help you to alleviate that pain with different methods.
  • Speeding up that recovery. You deserve to feel your best. Physiotherapists will be able to improve the injury recovery outcomes so that you are able to be back on your feet in no time at all. If you’ve had to take time off work because of back pain, and that back pain was a result of an injury, then working with the physio is going to get you back on your feet faster than trying to do it yourself. They are trained to be able to identify any proprioception and help you with targeted exercises.
  • Preventing further injuries. Seeing a physiotherapist regularly is going to help you with injury prevention. Overall, with rehabilitation stretches and being able to help you with your movement and your flexibility, a physiotherapist is going to be able to strengthen your muscles, improve your stability and very much improve your coordination at the same time.

Why Walking In Nature Feels Better For Your Mental Health

A walk is often treated as interchangeable. Ten minutes is ten minutes, wherever it happens. But many people notice that walking somewhere green feels different to walking through built-up streets, retail parks or busy neighbourhoods. The distance may be the same. The pace may be similar. Yet the experience often feels calmer, lighter, […]
