Drinking More Water: The Fad-Free Solution to Great Health

drinking more water

Is drinking more water for weight loss actually a thing? We are here to find out.

There are many fad diets and fitness regimes making their way around the internet, all promising magical results like dropping ten pounds in two days or clearing your face of all acne! These benefits seem a little too good to be true and here’s the spoiler: they are. As well as that, they usually don’t work and they aren’t all that healthy.

However, what if there was something that could clear up your skin, help you control hunger, and give you more energy? What if this something did not cost an arm and a leg to benefit from? Does this also sound too good to be true?

Well, it’s actually found right in your kitchen tap.

That’s right – the magical ingredient that could be missing in your weight loss journey could be simple H2O! Is the key to great health really as simple as drinking more water?

The Positive Effects of Drinking More Water

Water is an essential part of any healthy lifestyle. To begin with, it naturally suppresses your appetite. Drinking a glass of water or two before each meal will help you to feel full, reducing the amount you feel you want to eat.

Contradictory as it may sound, drinking more water ensures that your body is not holding onto excess fluid. When you don’t consume enough water your body enters survival mode because it doesn’t know when it will get more. When this happens your body holds onto any water it can. As a result, this creates bloating in your stomach, hands, and feet. Your weight loss will also slow down because the body needs a lot of water to metabolise excess fat within it.

Drinking more water helps you to stay energised throughout the day. It also has amazing benefits for your skin and other organs. Yes that’s right – your skin is an organ! The biggest organ you have, in fact. Since your body is made up of over 60% water, it should come as no surprise that drinking enough of it will be immensely beneficial for your skin, as well as your body’s other organs including the liver and kidneys.

Water plays an important part in post-workout recovery so make sure you drink plenty before, during and after a workout.

How Much Water is Enough?

So how can you make sure you’re getting enough water? It is recommended to have at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water per day. While it may seem daunting it is achievable!

One way is to break it down into smaller portions such as how many glasses of water you need to make up those 2 litres of water. One cup is 250ml so you would need to drink six cups of water throughout the day to meet your goal.

By breaking down your goals into smaller, more attainable milestones you’ll be more likely to succeed in hitting your water consumption daily!

Why Walking In Nature Feels Better For Your Mental Health

A walk is often treated as interchangeable. Ten minutes is ten minutes, wherever it happens. But many people notice that walking somewhere green feels different to walking through built-up streets, retail parks or busy neighbourhoods. The distance may be the same. The pace may be similar. Yet the experience often feels calmer, lighter, […]
